Helping Hand donates wheelchair to four-year-old with cerebral palsy
Solidarity Helping Hand
The four-year-old friends of Tristen Louwies in Witbank are busy little toddlers. But as a small boy with cerebral palsy, Tristen is mostly confined to his bed. However, that changed this week thanks to Solidarity Helping Hand when Tristen received a wheelchair as a special birthday gift from the organisation. Tristen celebrates his fourth birthday this weekend.
According to Chantelle Louwies, Tristen’s mother, he had a stressful birth that left him disabled. Chantelle had to stop working after the birth of her little boy to look after her disabled child full-time. Tristen was placed in a local special school earlier this year.
According to Dr. Danie Langner, executive director of Solidarity Helping Hand, this donation will open up a new world for Tristen. “His life has thus far been filled with suffering, and we hope that this donation will make his life easier in some small way,” says Langner. Helping Hand used donations to fund the purchase of the special wheelchair.
“The donation will tremendously improve Tristan’s life because now he can see his surroundings instead of just being able to stare at the ceiling,” says Chantelle.
Solidarity Helping Hand takes on various projects with the focus on protecting and uplifting children. This donation forms part of Helping Hand’s children’s projects.
