Sol-Tech named team of the year
Sol-Tech

Sol-Tech’s rugby team was last week named the Naka Bulls Rugby Union’s team of the year. The team was honoured for the exceptional growth they displayed through the year and because they were the only Naka team playing in this year’s Carlton final. The other teams progressed to the Carlton semi-finals.

Sol-Tech used this special opportunity to once again confirm their commitment to a future with Naka. The club and the team will have a close cooperation agreement in the future, while the Sol-Tech team will keep their name.

“We are very excited about next year,” says Paul van Deventer, head of Solidarity Training. Van Deventer and Adele Liebenberg of Solidarity were both elected to serve on the Naka Committee in 2009.

“Sol-Tech has unbelievably talented players. Last year the team played in the Carlton final for fourth teams and were runners-up. This year they played in the Carlton final again, this year in the third league, and again earned a second place. This exceptional achievement requires commitment and enthusiasm, and Sol-Tech’s players are not lacking at all in this regard. Next year we’ll win the final,” says Liebenberg.

Gert Nel was again chosen as sports coach and some of the Sol-Tech players were chosen for Naka’s first team. “We are very happy for them. They worked hard. The guys might be playing in a different team now, but Sol-Tech is still their home,” says Liebenberg.

Capitec Bank recently gave Sol-Tech’s rugby a huge boost with a R10 000 sponsorship. Sol-Tech Sport is managed entirely separately from Sol-Tech and therefore depends solely on sponsorships. For more information or to get involved as sponsor of Sol-Tech, contact Adele Liebenberg at 012 644 4300.
